I received a swap card from Pam McLean over 2 years ago, and I am finally now getting around to CASING it! (I couldn’t find a blog for her). I needed to post this NOW because SOON the stamp set Gorgeous Grunge won’t be around anymore. It will be a sad day…….
I created this card on Stampin’ Up Notecards, which are GREAT because you get 20 cards (pre-scored) AND envelopes for only $6! These are a little smaller than the traditional cards, they measure 5″ X 3 1/2″ when folded.
To make the smaller butterfly, just use the Versa mark pad with White Embossing Powder, then cut it out using the Butterfly Thinlit Die.
Last night was my team meeting – oh my goodness we have SO MUCH FUN!
To give you some background, I have to tell you some “behind the scenes” information. I have been a demonstrator for 9 years! We have swaps each month and then vote on our FAVORITE swap. I have NEVER WON in 9 years! Well last night was the BEST.DAY.EVER. !!! I FINALLY WON!!!!! Here is the swap card I made, using the popular Bokeh Technique. I CASED a card on Splitcoast Stampers by Arlene Mantle.
To use the Bokeh technique, cut a full sponge into 1/8 pie pieces. I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive ink on Whisper White card stock.
Then punch some different sized circles on a scrap piece of card stock (I used 1 1/4″, 1″ and 3/4″ circles). Set this template ontop of your white card stock and sponge in circles randomly using White Craft Ink and a sponge dauber.
To make the butterfly, I first cut one out of Basic Black card stock, using the Butterfly thinlit. Then I sponged Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive ink onto the vellum. Glue the black butterfly onto the vellum using Tombo glue, then fussy cut the vellum out. Glue just the body of the butterfly onto the card front so the wings can lift away from the card for a 3-D look!
Each month, we celebrate BIG by crowning the weSTAMPER who wins the swap contest. She gets to wear a crown sash that says “Best weSTAMP Swap”. I really played it up because I have never won!! LOL (I said I didn’t want to take the crown and sash off that whole night!) Sue Parker had some fun with the photo she took and did some of her Photo Shop magic, then posted these photos on our team FB page. She is so clever! What a fun night!!
Today is the LAST DAY to RSVP for the Spring Extravaganza! You can still get in on the fun if you email me today! Hope you can join us – lots of projects, product, door prizes and MORE!
Deb Valder made a card and I loved her design so much that I CASED it using different colors and paper. The butterfly has a window sheet underneath it so you can see through the top layer to the back side!
